Netting

Trade Mechanics

An account mode that automatically combines same-instrument trades into one net position, rather than tracking each ticket separately.

Netting is an account mode where multiple trades on the same instrument are automatically combined into a single net position, rather than being tracked as separate tickets. If you buy 1 lot and then buy another 0.5 lots of the same pair, a netting account shows one 1.5-lot position instead of two. Netting is the standard mode for US-regulated accounts and MT5 accounts configured that way; it's the counterpart to a hedging account, which instead lets you hold offsetting long and short positions on the same pair simultaneously.
