Cent Account

Brokers & Regulation

A live forex account denominated in cents, letting a trader take very small real-money positions while testing a strategy or platform.

A cent account is a live forex account denominated in cents rather than whole units of the account currency, so a 100 dollar deposit is displayed as 10,000 cents. Lot sizes, profit and loss are shown in the same cent units, which means positions — and therefore the money at risk per trade — can be far smaller than on a standard account. Traders commonly use a cent account to test a strategy, a platform or an expert advisor with real money but very small exposure, as a step between a demo account and full-size trading. Conditions are still real: spreads, swaps, commissions and slippage all apply, and losses are real money even though the balance figures look large.
