Good-Till-Cancelled (GTC) Order
Trade MechanicsA pending order that stays active until filled or manually cancelled, rather than expiring automatically at day's end.
A Good-Till-Cancelled order remains active indefinitely until it either fills or the trader manually cancels it, as opposed to a day order that automatically expires at the end of the trading session. GTC is the default duration setting on most retail platforms for pending orders.
Because a GTC order can sit untouched for weeks, it's worth periodically reviewing open pending orders to make sure they still reflect a current market view rather than a stale one.
