Good Till Date (GTD)
Trade MechanicsA pending order that works until a date and time you set, then expires unfilled — stamped in the broker's server time, not yours.
A good-till-date order is a pending order that stays working until a date and time you specify, then expires on its own if it has not been filled. It sits between good-till-cancelled, which works indefinitely, and a day order, which dies at the session close.
Two details decide whether it behaves as you expect. The expiry is stamped in the broker's server time zone rather than yours, so an order set for "Friday evening" can expire an hour early or late once a daylight-saving change lands. And expiry removes only the order: a position it already opened stays open, and on some platforms an attached stop or take-profit follows a different rule from the entry it came with. Both are worth checking in the platform's time-in-force settings before relying on the date.
