Trendline
Technical AnalysisA line connecting a series of rising lows or falling highs, visualizing trend direction and acting as dynamic support or resistance.
A trendline is a straight line drawn connecting a series of rising lows (in an uptrend) or falling highs (in a downtrend), used to visualize the trend's direction and identify a dynamic support or resistance level. A confirmed break of a well-established trendline is often treated as an early warning that the trend may be weakening or reversing.
Trendlines are subjective by nature — two traders can draw slightly different lines on the same chart — which is why many use them as one confirming factor among several rather than a standalone signal.
