Win Rate
Risk ManagementThe percentage of trades that close profitably — meaningless on its own without knowing the average size of wins versus losses.
Win rate is the percentage of a trader's closed trades that were profitable, out of the total number of trades taken. A high win rate feels good psychologically, but on its own it says nothing about profitability — a strategy that wins 80% of the time but loses far more on the 20% of losers can still lose money overall.
Win rate only becomes meaningful alongside the average size of wins versus losses (captured in the risk-reward ratio and expectancy), which is why professional traders track all three together.
