What does Price Alert mean on a trading platform?
A price alert is a platform notification that fires when an instrument meets a condition you set, delivered as a pop-up, a sound, a push message to a phone or an email. Alerts can be tied to a fixed price level, to price crossing a trendline or an indicator on the chart, or to a percentage move, which lets one trader monitor many pairs without watching screens all day. An alert is only a notice: unlike a pending order it opens and closes nothing, so the outcome still depends on the trader reacting in time. A common use is setting alerts slightly ahead of support or resistance, leaving room to check context before deciding.
