Price Feed

Platforms & Tools

A price feed is the stream of bid and ask quotes a platform receives, aggregated from liquidity providers and shown on client terminals.

A price feed is the stream of quotes a trading platform receives and displays for each instrument — the bid and ask prices that tick on screen and against which orders are executed. A broker's feed is typically aggregated from several liquidity providers, filtered for off-market spikes, and then distributed to client terminals with the broker's spread or markup applied. Charting services maintain their own feeds, which is why the same pair can print slightly different candles on different platforms. Feed quality shapes the trading experience: update frequency affects how faithfully charts reflect the market, gaps or frozen quotes can trigger mispriced fills, and a stale feed on one venue creates apparent arbitrage that brokers police. In spot forex there is no single official price, so every feed is a proprietary composite rather than an exchange tape.
